 | University study confirms - hand washing can harm your car’s finishIt’s a fact; hand-washing at home can leave scratches in your cars paint as deep as 1/10 of the paint’s total thickness that reduces your vehicles shine. The International Carwash Association working through a special Carwash Research Foundation Grant to the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas, has conducted extensive car washing tests this past year to determine the effect on car finishes by comparing various car washing techniques ranging from professional car washing to the bucket and sponge used by many auto owners. |

 | Sewer vs. storm drain - how washing you car by hand is bad for the environment.Water used to wash your car at home or at a charity wash drains directly into and poisons the environment. 80% of the water we use is filtered and reclaimed and all final waste water flows to the sewer for treatment and processing before being released into the environment. Even if you use a biodegradable soap like we do, your wastewater may carry trace amount of metals (copper from brake dust and zinc from tire wear) along with small amounts of gasoline and diesel fuel, oil, grease and antifreeze. When combined with the fact that a professional car wash uses only a fraction of the water used to wash a car by hand, it’s no wonder that The Nature Conservancy and other organizations recommend washing at a professional car wash as the more environmentally friendly choice. |
